As it stands the lease is not legally theirs to walk away from. COP would probably be quite happy to keep the lease now deep water is back in favour, just give WPL back the money spent, however they are now in dispute with FAR.
Basically anything's possible but I doubt WPL would let the bone go without taking a pound of flesh with it....
Personally I'd rather be in FAR's boots than WPL's on this issue...what I would really Like to know is more about the letter presented to WPL shareholders stating WPL had " Participation rights" yet according to FAR there is no record of that document in Senegal and it was never gazzetted ...perhaps African Intelligence provided that for them....
