I don't think Citadel's shareholders got a great deal. I actually worked it out on the day when the deal was announced, that they actually would have been better of selling their shares, waiting a couple of days, and buying into EQN at a much better price than the 14:1 offer they got, even with the so called "premium" per share.
So, to make my point, I don't think the AFR article is anything to be celebrated, and I hope it doesn't eventuate.
