Richard Evertz is covered by the Commonwealth Spent Conviction Scheme, which prevents disclosure of a State conviction deemed spent under the Crimes Act 1914 to any Commonwealth Authority (eg. ASIC). He is entitled to claim that the conviction never happened. Anyone who discloses details of a Commonwealth spent conviction is in breach of the Crimes Act.

The AFR by publicly publishing details of his spent conviction has presumably now "disclosed" this information to every single Commonwealth Authority in the country.
I hope they have good lawyers LOL

I've tried looking for the remedy for this breach and couldn't find any legislated remedies. Anybody able to find common law remedies ir statutory remedies?
