Almost half of Queenslanders support reducing coal royalties to encourage big miners, like BHP, to invest in future projects in the state, new polling shows. The AFR/Freshwater Strategy poll also found that 38 per cent of people believed the mining, gas and agricultural industries were responsible for last month’s state budget delivering a record $12 billion surplus.
