2015-2016 Magnis forms a relationship with Prof Stanley Whittingham and his protege, founder of C4V Shailesh Upreti who were making breakthroughs with their battery technology at Birmington University. Prof Stanley Whittingham, inventor of the lithium battery, joins the Magnis board.
2017-2018 Magnis and C4V create IM3, a partnership where Magnis would source the raw materials and develop the supply chain, and C4V provide the battery technology making breakthroughs in its developments, creating the worlds first lithium battery without the use of cobalt and also creating a fast charging battery which charges 80% in 6mins.
2018-2019 Magnis increases its stake in IM3 to 53%
2018-2019 Further progress leads Magnis and C4V to
pursuing a gigafactory in New York and Townsville
2018-2019 Magnis purchase $200m worth of near-new commercial scale equipment at an auction for approx $5m. This was then re-valued at approx $70m
2019-2020 Magnis and C4V engage closely with the New York State government and also the Queensland government for funding for a feesability study for both New York and Townsville respectively.
2020-2021 Magnis advises that it expects to secure finance in the December quarter of 2020 for its New York gigafactory.
