What you fail to realise is just because the stock got to $8 previously, that doesn't mean that it was accurately valued at that price.
Put it another way, you currently believe the stock is undervalued and that the price is too low and in just the same way that the market has got it wrong (in your view anyway) it is highly probable that the market got it wrong when the price was $8.
