If BHP comes in then presumably their acquired interest will go into the proposed BHP:RIO JV pot so effectively it will be a joint bid in any case.
I can't see FMG being in a position to challenge given the current impasse on their price/financing negotiations.
One other potential candidate is Clive Palmer..... now that would set a cat among the pigeons!
