The politician who did the correct thing and sent these people back to where they came from would be crucified by the social media and the left leaning press so they are frightened sh****ss

The basic dogma of the two main parties appears to be
"we know that we stuffed up but the people can't do anything about it so it will eventually blow over"

Certainly as far as Victoria is concerned the opposition party is so pathetic that Andrews doesn't even have to try and do anything to help those that he is supposed to represent

Who would want to work in the police forces in Victoria ? Knowing what should be done and being told not to do it.

Just my opinion as there appears to be no other answer why crime is totally out of control in Victoria
