    During the meeting with President Koroma, Mr. Soros said that his efforts in Sierra Leone are geared towards the empowerment of the poor .He disclosed that he is preparing to launch the Sierra Leone Project as an example of progress. These include investment in agriculture and fisheries .He also hopes to invest in cocoa and rice production to help the country become self-sufficient in food production. His agent , who also addressed the meeting said that Sierra Leone is very rich in soil and has the capacity to become the bread basket of West Africa from Ghana stretching to Senegal but said that farmers lacked the equipments and fertilizers. Stating that the Soros Foundation wants Sierra Leone to become like self-sufficient Malawi, they are interested also in putting up rice mills and investing in banana production.

    While thanking Mr. Soros and his team for calling on him at his hotel, President Koroma outlined steps he had taken to bring electricity back to Sierra Leone. He however said that demands for more electricity are growing and therefore his government is working on a Bumbuna Phase 2 and other mini-hydro electricity projects.

    more infrastructure in that area will also help out CFE's marampa and also London mining as well. The railway re-construction from Pepel to Lunsar started in May and LM's roadworks and now more "mini" hydro projects.

    SIERRA LEONE FINANCING AGREEMENT SIGNING CEREMONY HELD AT THE WORLD BANK OFFICE-WASHINGTON D.C. WEDNESDAY 29TH SEPTEMBER 2010 - yesterday signed on behalf of the Government of Sierra Leone a Financing Agreement amending and restating the Development Grant Agreement of the Bumbuna Hydroelectric Environmental and Social Management Project in the amount of SDR 14,600,000 equivalent to twenty one million United States dollars.
