Djibril Amadou Kanoute was replaced as boss of Senegal’s national oil company, Petrosen. The energy ministry Karim Wade, son of Senegal’s president, put Kanoute, a discreet engineer, quietly out to grass only a few months before his official retirement age. Immediately replaced by Petrosen’s administrative and financial director, Ibrahima Mbodji. He will now find himself dealing with sensitive issues flowing from his ministry’s refusal to award new exploration blocks to oil companies, with the notable exception of African Petroleum
