I am guessing here, however, based on previous experience with other O*G companies that drill appraisal wells,
they drill the well and IF they find oil they make an announcement such as "We have intersected X meters of oil" ... they continue drilling, make further updates and then finally (based on the results of their initial findings) decide wether or not to flow test / flare the well - which determines what pressure they can get (and how much oil / quality of oil). This is limited to the size of the choke (I believe). Others on here know much more about this then myself so please feel free to correct me... I am sure YA will do lol
