Half-time wrap:

Australian shares rose for a second day after hopes for more tariff relief boosted Wall Street overnight.

The ASX 200 rallied 31 points or 0.4% by mid-session.

Gains in healthcare providers, banks and utilities helped offset weakness in gold miners and tech companies.

US stocks advanced after the White House said it might delay tariffs on automotive imports after earlier flagging a pause on tariffs on tech imports, including smartphones, computers and semiconductors. The S&P 500 climbed 0.79%.
