Afternoon trading April 21

Thanks @shovel40, @mirren, @FlashPoint, @Fiji1 and all the unsung heroes that keep these threads humming along.

A glum end to the week, although bulls will point out there were buyers for the early weakness this morning. At the halfway mark, the ASX 200 was 0.43% lower after earlier falling more than 0.6%.

Miners have been a significant drag for the last two sessions following pressure on iron ore and base metals. The banks joined the sell-off this session, backing off a six-week high.

Barring a recovery this arvo, the ASX 200 is set to break a three-week winning run.
