The Fatal Shore... Robert Hughes.

The book has been around for a while before I stumbled upon it recently.

A down to earth recount of Australian History from the times of the First Fleet to the end of transportation.

Probably not for every one as some may find the shameful treatment metred out to exiles confronting. Matter of fact and in my opinion Robert Hughes is brilliant. The book is well researched and he has an admirable ability to relate the times as they were.
