Afternoon trading August 24

Half-time wrap:

Aussie shares rallied for a third day as the domestic earnings rolled on and Wall Street welcomed a record profit from AI flagship-stock Nvidia.

The ASX 200 climbed 30 points or 0.42%. Tech stocks, gold miners and banks led the advance. Defensive sectors dragged.

Well-received trading updates from Qantas, Tabcorp, Medibank and Northern Star helped offset misses from South32, Ramsay Health Care, Insignia Financial, Lovisa and Perpetual.

US futures pointed to additional gains tonight following the S&P 500's best session in nearly two months. S&P 500 futures jumped 0.64% after Nvidia surged 6.58% this morning after reporting after-hours earnings. Nasdaq futures popped 1.17%.

Personal trading: Jumped aboard the RDN steam train for a couple of pips. Pip from IXR. Also tried for MEI, TER and RB6 on retrace but no fills.
