SI6 Metals (SI6) has provided an update on the ongoing drilling programs at its projects in Botswana and Western Australia.
In Botswana, the company faced some delays in conducting work programs and securing technical contractors, as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The various restrictions and lockdown measures presented some challenges, but SI6 has still made pleasing progress on its programs.

At its Maibele Project in Botswana, the company has retrieved, logged, and processed the core drilled from hole MADD00153. SI6 has confirmed that the hole intersected ultramafic rock types showing heavily disseminated sulphides and massive sulphide stringers.

This strongly indicates that the sulphide-hosting horizon continues for at least 60 metres in a northeasterly direction. Samples of sulphide-mineralised intersections have already been dispatched to an independent laboratory in South Africa for multi-element analysis.

At its Monument Project in Western Australia, SI6 has successfully drilled holes at the Waihi and Korong Prospects. All 13 planned holes at the Waihi Prospect reached the proposed target depths and intersected multiple pyrite-rich BIF/chert horizons.
The company has also drilled 13 holes at the Korong Prospect, with all holes reaching the planned target depths within the pyrite-rich BIF/chert horizon. Another eight holes will be drilled at the Korong Prospect, hopefully by mid-February.

SI6 Metal’s Executive Chairman, Patrick Holywell, commented on the company’s recent drilling activities in Botswana and Western Australia.

“In what has been a busy start to 2021, I am pleased to report that initial inspection of the recent hole drilled in Botswana at our Maibele Project has successfully identified ultramafic rock types containing sulphides, which is a very strong indication that the mineralised body previously intersected remains open and continues for at least 60 metres northeast,” he said.

“In Western Australia, we are also excited about our ongoing RC drilling program — whilst our drilling was halted briefly due to the heavy rainfalls experienced in the region, we are pleased to report that the 13 hole program at the Waihi Prospect is now complete. Further, drilling recently commenced at the Korong Prospect following the heavy rainfall,” he added.

The company expects various assay results from its projects in Botswana and Western Australia to start coming through in the next few weeks.
