OT - Thanks for the references @taughtbuffet. I read through them but I did note wording in the articles such as
"... the infection may be weakening, according to doctors, whose findings have been greeted with skepticism."
and
"...there is still uncertainty as to whether enough time has passed for COVID-19 to weaken...".

You may want to look at the stats for the global death rate from the virus which has increased since January.
