    Thanks @shovel40, @Fiji1, @uncleBuck, @JohnI and morning crew.

    Half-time wrap:

The share market overcame a mid-morning wobble to rise for a third session as gains in the big banks offset a mixed performance from the major miners.

The ASX 200 reached mid-session 19.5 points or 0.23% ahead.

Gold miners and energy producers were boosted by overnight news that the US was preparing to evacuate some staff from regional centres in the Middle East. That news helped drag the S&P 500 down 0.27% overnight to its first loss in four sessions. A CBS report this morning said the planned evacuations came after Israel told the White House it was ready to launch an operation against Iran.

The morning's best performers included gold miners West African Resources +6.05% and Genesis Minerals +6.28%, plus Beach Energy +4.25% and Karoon Energy +4.56%.

Personal trading: Poor morning's work. Stopped out of WES before it did exactly what I thought it would. Took WA1 sooner than necessary. Should have backed my gut on DTR and LKY. Didn't.
