Thanks @shovel40, @Fiji1 and morning crew.
Half-time wrap:
The share market looked set to finish a holiday-shortened week with its third loss in four sessions as the heavily-weighted mining sector tested multi-week lows.
The ASX 200 dropped 24 points or 0.31% by mid-session. Slim gains in healthcare providers and consumer stocks were outweighed by falls in miners, banks, industrials and tech socks.
The materials sector was off 0.6% and trading near its mid-March 2024 low following overnight declines in precious and base metals.
US stocks finished mixed but mostly higher overnight as the red-hot tech sector lifted the S&P 500 and Nasdaq to new heights. The S&P 500 gained 0.23% after a dip in wholesale prices last month firmed up the odds on a September rate cut.
Personal trading: Caught a decent chunk of the initial rebound in DDR.
