Half-time round-up: "ASX Update: Retail rebound boosts confidence"

Personal trading: Stalked NVX all the way down to 86 cents and traded the fleeting rebound. Watched SPT during its opening run - my God, those algos are quick. Not sure I've seen turnover that fast and ferocious before. Around 15 years ago in the relatively early days of computerised trading I used to make most of my income from episodes where the algos ran amok, sparking dramatic share price collapses followed by fairly quick recoveries. You had to be fast, but it was possible back then for man to beat machine. Those rubber-ball trades don't happen any more - the programmers got smarter. Any easy money-making anomaly eventually gets ironed out.
