Afternoon trading June 29

Half-time wrap:

Banking and tech stocks steered the Australian share market towards a third straight gain despite a mixed night on Wall Street and commodity markets.

The ASX 200 firmed 0.18%. The tech sector climbed 1.6 per cent, financials 0.7% and telecoms 0.6%. The REIT sector dropped 0.7% and utilities 1.2% as a number of major companies traded ex-dividend. The mining and industrial sectors were also weak.

US futures rebounded from mild overnight declines in the Dow and S&P 500. Futures for the S&P 500 improved 0.14%.

Personal trading: Got some of the bounce in EMC. Part-fill in KFM. Missed AW1 by half a pip. Watching IXC for capitulation (rebound odds poor on day 1 but improve on days 2-3).
