I wanted to post this after hours as I am not wanting to start a depth of retort posts from others, either for or against this issue, but rather to say that you should not feel unwelcomed,
Your post saddened me as I would have imagined in this day and age we, as a community, would have been mature enough to accept posts based on merit, rather than gender. However, I can see where you are coming from and lament that it is the case.
I came from a position of growing up with a mother who was ahead of her time and then very fortunately, found an intelligent, compassionate and, centred lady to fall in love with, so i have never had gender bias (in fact the reverse as I could see how the "norm" in society was during my early career and I set out to redress that situation within the workforces that I had responsibility for.)
I suppose the takeaway from this diatribe is please feel free to post as there are a great number of posters who value your contributions.
