One theory would be that brokers often know when news will be dropped and they don't want their trades showing on the books the day before. So we'll know if that's the case tomorrow, or this week at least. I saw it once with BRN. The day before the boomer ann, volume dropped off to near nothing. Back in the days when it was a hot stock.
