contrary to popular opinion cash isn't fee free for retailers (either - as in the case of large retailers - they outsource the collection and counting/processing, or they pay wages for someone to count cash and go to the bank).
There is no way for a consumer to pay a retailer that doesn't have costs for the retailer. Sure, the costs vary and AfterPay is at the higher end % wise, but if retailers are forced to pass on costs then that would have to apply to all payment types (meaning consumers pay more regardless)
