The TED talk "How to start a movement" by Derek Sivers comes to mind. The technology and infrastructure to host it is accessible, so others were able to build and deploy their own platforms rather quickly. I imagine that the bravery to test the legal landscape was partly mustered by sensing the upcoming trend and watching others taking a stake. The concept became popular so quickly that you could probably float a company or conduct a capital raising purely on the BNPL wave when it was at its peek.
