To remind, AGC Central neighbours our No. 2 (Sinapa) block in GB, where FAR are planning to poke a hole in its Atum prospect next year. The AGC Central wildcat will be a good indicator of what lies beneath and if Netherland, Sewell & Associates' estimates are anything to go by, we could be sitting on another monster.

Oryx planning wildcat on AGC Central licence next year

London-based Oryx Petroleum is preparing to drill a wildcat next year in waters controlled jointly by Senegal and Guinea-Bissau, writes Iain Esau.
Oryx operates the AGC Central licence in which it has identified significant potential resources based on 3D seismic data with geological comparisons drawn with Cairn Energy’s SNE oil and gas discovery in Senegal.

Final interpretation is almost complete, with prospect selection to follow.

Last week, the operator said it expects to enter the first renewal of the exploration licence under the production sharing contract in September.

Chief executive Vance Querio told an IP Week audience late last month: “We’re very excited about Cretaceous opportunities (like SNE).”

Netherland, Sewell & Associates estimates the acreage as holding 3.45 billion barrels of unrisked resource potential, net to its 80% working interest.

“That kind of (resource) volume and 10 or 11 prospects encourages us to get after it,” said Querio. “So we’re moving as quickly as we can to start exploration in 2019 with the drillbit.”
