    And so they should be.
    As a former tax practitioner, many years ago, I was well aware of the schemes that were available to high net worth people to minimize their tax liability or indeed to avoid it entirely.
    Exactly the same arrangements have been and are available, mainly via family trusts, for elderly wealthy people to qualify for government funded or subsidised aged care, to which they would otherwise not be entitled.
    So quite correctly the government has said today it will seek to make sure that people who can contribute to the costs of their care will be made to do so.
    I wish them well but really it's easier said than done.
