    the Govt said that the Fair Work Com system would make wages changes simpler and more fair.

    by the read of some 6 submissions, its made the whole system far more contentious instead.

    I note that some aged care orgs have few f/t employees, Baptist care has only 8% f/t, 84% part/t and the remainder 11% casual. this is also a major disincentive for people to enter the aged care workforce. it also limits the possibility of care delivery being standardised and maintained by staff who know the residents well.

    this is not just about pay rates, although with the chronic devaluation of aged care workers this has become the main issue. its also about continuity of care, employing staff full time allows this, especially wrt RNs.
