Always something going on to scare mom and pop. In reverse order in recent memory: Ukraine, market crash, rate hikes, inflation, omicron, Evergrande, Delta, tech bubble, and so on and so forth...
My prediction is the actual crash will be some sort of currency crisis somewhere unpredictable as the Fed removes liquidity, timing is the issue, of course.
