There are no political points to be scored on this subject, and anyone trying is wasting their life.
Both sides, and all of them in the past and present, have had one ongoing scam after another.
There is no excusing it, but it's the way it is.
Probably the only way to stop it, is to just give them a pay rise and axe all the entitlements and allowances altogether, and just let them spend the dough any way they like.
It would probably pay for itself by eliminating the army of public servants I assume are employed to try and administer these schemes.
