the situation in most nursing homes is 1- nurse and 2- assistance nurses to 30 patients. Unless patient - nurse numbers are addressed nothing will change. We’re living longer and many nursing home patients require 24h individual care. Governments State and Federal know this, but report after report will not mandate patient/ nurse ratios. One patient shits themselves and the 2 assistant nurses are tied up trying to clean up, leaving the other patients on their own. The massive workload per shift doesn’t get done.
