Don't forget pensoner's senior &confessional cards that entitled them to almost everything from discount to free services like -
-no stamp duty for car registrations;
-discount on water &council rates
-$2.50 on all public transport per day
-discount on medicine
-bulk bill for most doctor/medical services.
Plus no need to spend $2000 on clothes as these items are pretty cheap these days.
Even the argument is that SOME of them had worked hard and paid tax in the past, I am sure most of them hadn't paid more than $400 per week in taxes in today's value
What about those hadn't contributed a cent in taxes during their working ages.
Should they too get the same amount of pension in their retirement age, or should there be a two tiered system ?
