So, take heart, HelloU, those who receive these pensions are now getting closer to their deaths and you can rejoice. Teachers are paid less than their counterparts in the business world and this was a way of ensuring they would not die through starvation or even need to access the Aged Pension. Some of us receive less in our teachers' Pension that the Aged Pension. Mine, for example, is only 75% of the Aged Pension, after 28 years of teaching.

Why are you so obsessed with toilet scrubbing? I have scrubbed many a toilet and have never received a single cent for doing so.
Those who get paid for doing this menial job should be grateful, imho.

That is the problem, only 28 years of work. Expecting to have the same benefits as those that spent twice that time in the workforce. Much of that time working 40 hours each week with only 2weeks holidays for the first half and 4 weeks later on. And still t the cost of the tax payer. Probably I pay a portion of it as my stamp duty bill last year was over $100,000.

Pity your stamp tax bill size does not reflect the size of your IQ!

I am in a relatively unique position of having worked for an extended period in office work (viz 10 years plus 2 = 12) and worked 28 years as a teacher and thus can absolutely state, without any doubt at all, the work load involved in teaching at secondary level was FAR FAR FAR AND AWAY GREATER THAN ANY OF MY OFFICE JOBS.

Office work finishes when you walk out the door. An additional 20 hours (sometimes more) is added to the face-to-face teaching in the classroom when one takes on the job of a teacher. Who do you reckon prepares the lessons, prepares homework, corrects the homework and when teaching older students undertake the commentary and correction involved in long, sophisticated essays when teaching a subject like Economics? You can't do that during the lunch break of 45 minutes particularly if you are on yard duty at the time.

No yard duty for office workers, no after-school staff meetings, curriculum meetings, subject level meetings, book lending duty, bus duty, detention duty, etc etc etc..

Get informed, nursery!!!!!
