A big problem? Well, let's see from whose perspective...
- Tax payers? Big problem indeed - they're paying for what would eventually prove to be a white elephant
- Consumers? Big problem indeed - they'll eventually realise that the promised reduction in electricity cost will be elusive. There's no such thing as free lunch and someone will have to pay for it - and that someone is ALWAYS either the tax payer or the consumer.
- The environment? Big problem indeed. We won't realise it now, but eventually we will (next generation?). Materials need to be mined, and wastes need to be disposed of eventually...
- Suppliers & contractors? No problem at all. They'll be paid and ensure a profit. Gov'ts are very good paymasters.
- Politicians & policy makers? No problem at all. They'll still earn their salaries & pensions, and hey, this is a great project for them to spruik their green credentials and make grand standing statements like net zero in 30 years time. By the the time we all realise the folly of these investments, they will be enjoying their life-long pensions & some of us would be already dead, and the problem hand-balled to the next generation.

- And finally AGL & its shareholders? I think no problem at all. IMO the impact to AGL as a profitable utility business would be minimal...
