ACCELL is a dead-man walking and AGL is not far behind, the whole Board should be sacked for their glaring incompetence.
There will be no need for any of AGL/ACCELL fossil fuel assets (coal and gas) from 2026 on. AEMO have announced that their intention is to have the Australian Grid stabilised from multiple Renewable feeds by 2025. The technology to provide 100% stabilised Renewables has been developed and completion to fed-in ear-marked for 2025. There is currently 40.5GW of roof-top solar that is being held back , plus Wind, plus hydro. Working in conjunction with the Grid stabilization is the establishment of Battery Storage which, again by 2025 is to exceed 50GW- 150GW. To put that in perspective Australia's demand is under 40GW.
The Board should know this as the Govt and scientific/engineering communities most certainly do. The AGL Board just want to milk their last few years of unjustified salaries and obscene bonuses whilst leaving the Australian taxpayers with the cost of rehabilitation. If anyone thinks otherwise just research what this Company has been found guilty of to date.
