AGL Energy (AGK) has today been given the go-ahead to take over Macquarie Generation.
On July 2nd last year AEB announced to the market that it had signed a deal with Macquarie Generation to site an algae carbon capture and biofuels production facility alongside the Bayswater coal-fired power station in the Hunter Valley and feed waste carbon dioxide into the enclosed algae growth system.
With AGL Energy set to take over Macquarie Generation assets including the Bayswater coal-fired power station it will be interesting to see how this impacts upon AEB given the deal referred to above and the related agreement with Biodiesel Industries Australia which was announced to the market on July 8th last year.
