To be uneconomic the savings over 20 years would need to be less than the cost of the panels.
I'm just tossing $3,000 in the pot divided by 20 = $150 per year or $25 for each 2 monthly power bill in WA.
My sister has a 1.5kW system and has power bills about $100 less than they were with a measly 6-8c feed in tarrif.

Why would the Broken Hills homes be any different?
