With High Voltage DC transmission technology you can site the generation anywhere and get the power to where you need it with very little losses.
Moon, the transmission losses in our normal AC transmission lines is mainly resistive, [Voltage loss = Amps X Resistance] not inductive, so there is no obvious advantage of DC over AC in terrestrial transmission. Any gains would be lost in the rectification/inversion processes. And you can't step down/step up voltage so you can't even simply have a self stepping transformer to adjust for line losses.
It is an expensive and awkward process limited to submarine cables.
