Personally, I was surprised AGL came out and vetoed it, will definitely curry favour with the current government.
I agree with all your points (incl all the time in government for Libs to push this over) but don't see us getting anywhere near to 10 years in an optimistic case.
Remember, it was Turnbull's brainchild (or so he claims in ABC's Nemisis) to go through with Snowy Hydro 2.0, what a $13b (and counting) crapshow that has been, announced in 2017, expected go-live by 2029.
At least we've done hydro in this country, imagine nuclear, with no regulations, no support industries.
