Sentia, thks for all that... not the pure optimist dribble we are used to in seeking some fine companies to invest in...
As PPP are new producers, they are still at heart explorers... Can they repeat the EPS of the past year- probably not... Can they became a very good investment and producers in the future- who knows... High risk high reward if they succeed- nothing is guaranteed.
Their current EPS attracts some investors (Like myself) yet it is not sustainable without another revenue stream- IMO. The current revenue stream will dimish overtime. They are in competition with a lot more larger and more aggressive negoitators, they need to develop this skill and not be pushed around...
Like all oil\gas explorers they are in very high competition with others and ultimately it comes down to the deals struck by the Management. It is up to them. We must trust their ability, otherwise we will invest elsewhere.
Why do we invest in a company like this as opposed to a BHP or RIO whom dominate the field? As we feel\trust that they have more upside than the big boys. In fact 9 times out of 10 they do not.... this gives us a less than 10% success rate than finding an explorer\producer whom will exceed the percentage earning\loss overall of a BHP\RIO.
I am used to investing in the big boys and know their activities in great detail...yet decided to invest some of my portfolio in good value resource small cap's with some research, thus higher risk. As I am a believer in the resources super cycle over the LT. So I have picked a couple of potential up and coming Uranium and Oil\Gas stocks to add.
PPP leaves me perplexed from the feedback I got from the AGM in relation to other up and coming stocks. Although I hold a lot of stocks in PPP, I feel I should have done more research before investing. Should we offload if it hits 50+c, is something I must consider. As you stated I take or leave the high risk nature of the company. Many a company I have regretted not staying with and many companies have gone down that I sold off. Yet only this year have I really sort to research the small cap potentially up & coming resource companies.
Each to their own i feel- if you want high dividends and relatively low risk naturally this is not for you. If you want to double or half your investment potentially overnight then this is for you. It has its place in a high risk portfolio or part thereof. Naturally you must compare it to its peers that may appear to have a better future however ultimately only we can make that call. I guess with some insight from communities like the investors on HC and others.
Thanks for all your input- much appreciatated..Cheers Jay
