Alexium Makes Strong Debut with the AATCC
Dear Shareholders and Viewers,
We are pleased to inform you that Alexium is the newest Platinum Member of the AATCC (American Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists). This reputable membership facilitates collaborations and partnerships with other key parties in the textile and chemical industries. The timing of our membership was perfect as the new issue of AATCC Review magazine had just been distributed with the headline: “The Heat is On: Use and Regulation of Flame Retardants in Textiles.” The inclusion of Alexium’s ad in this issue set Alexium apart from the competition as the innovator rather than merely a responder to regulation.
Alexium has already begun taking advantage of our membership by attending the Fall AATCC Committee Meetings (November 3-5 in Research Triangle Park, NC) where we were represented by Lee Lemere, Alexium Sales Representative. The committee meetings provide an opportunity to network regarding current issues and emerging chemical technologies for textiles.
Key discussions pertinent to Alexium’s interests included: sustainability, environmental impact and regulatory issues. Meeting highlights included: Garment Wet Processing Technology Committee—highlighting chemical applications and water management issues and the Flammability Technology Committee—where a speaker from Texas A&M gave a presentation on nano-coatings. In the time surrounding the meetings, Lee was able to network with a number of key customers, colleagues and academia; where, he met with Dr. Keith Black at NC State (responsible for analytical tools for FR chemistries) as well as Ken Greeson, Manager of Finishing Research, from Cotton Inc. Mr. Greeson was particularly interested in our Alexiflam chemistry for durable0 FR cotton and requested Alexium to attend the 2016 Southern Textile Research Conference.
The Flammability Technology Committee, under Chairman Dr. Tom Fabian, Research Manager of Product Safety at Underwriters Laboratories (UL)—focusing on Textile Consumer Product Safety, began planning a Symposium for Fall 2016. Dr. Fabian invited Alexium to serve on the steering committee for this symposium along with members from TenCate, Cotton Inc. and M. Dohmen. Dr. Fabian also expressed an interest of future collaborations between Alexium and UL in relation to various test methods.
Subsequent to the AATCC meetings, Alexium’s Dr. Bob Brookins, VP of Research and Development, was selected to give a presentation at the 2016 AATCC International Conference and Exhibition regarding flame retardants. This will further enhance the recognition of Alexium as a leader in FR chemistries.
