You can understand when companies are growing and funds are tight that they issue options that are likely to be easily in the money with low conversion costs as staff may not be recompensed their real worth, but when a company is is on the verge of substancial cashflow their worth should be adequately reflected in their salaries with options as a bonus for realising certain achievements and price targets. They should not be practically given away.
