That paper surveys some older studies, including one on 40 patients who had valve repairs with CadioCel/ADAPT from 2014 to 2016. 8 of those patients underwent reoperations that showed thickened and immobile valve leaflets.
The patient from the title of the study had the native aortic leaflets left in situ, which may have caused the calcification. So that specific calcification could have been the result of the procedure not being done properly.
And I think it's also important to realize that no medical device or drug is a silver bullet that solves problems 100% of the time, often not even close to 100% even while showing efficacy, without any issues.
