Starting a new thread here only because I wish to highlight the importance of voting at the AGM on Thursday.
There's been a lot of discussion on the BRK threads voicing discontent with the way management approach running the company (I've repeatedly been one of those voices). This is your chance to put the collective grievances aired to enact change. I'm particularly aggrieved and indignant with the continued debasement of any connection between shareholder reward and the management bonus structure. One only has to look at BRK's historical share price over virtually any time frame over the last 5 years to see it's basically been on a one way slide. Shareholders have suffered a compounding loss on their capital. Management in contrast have continued without fail to reward themselves with bonuses for achieving KPI's that only target operational performance, safety etc. There is a complete disconnect between what shareholders get and the way management treat themselves via the STI program which is a gravy train. That is not healthy and engenders a one sided entitlement and win mentality for the executive irrespective of shareholder welfare. The STI program covers what Directors and management are already paid for in their base remuneration........the operational day to day control of the company. It's their day to day job to do accomplish these tasks. Stop the double dipping in remuneration through the STI program now. Put the Directors on notice...Prentice in particular because he's the largest beneficiary of this largesse that shareholders will no longer accept this going forward. A "no" vote is crucial if things are to change here going forward and shareholders want to have any fair share in the companies future spoils in a timely manner....this decade, not the next, if ever.
If you are dissatisfied with the above, make the effort to vote "No" irrespective of the size of your diminishing investment here. Every vote counts. The greater the weight of shareholder discontent through the ballot the louder it rings for the BoD because they're not addressing shareholder value concerns. Make that change on Thursday. Vote "No"
