Yes it means a great deal, shareholders are fed up with under-performance and yet bonuses and pay increases continue to be awarded to those who run companies. This is not so much about just BSL but an early warning indicator to all companies who flagrantly ignor the opinion of shareholders and the community expectations. The signal is out there for others as well and a sweeping change is coming and all boards should be getting quite nervous as they realise under-performance, or more to the point loss of capital will not be tolerated. I have also lived through the GFC and beyond and although I have lost some money I have at least protected my capital, OK the comparison may be stretched but when you start considering shareholder money as your own then you can stem the blood letting to some extent. Time to wake up and start appointing on merit and not which club you belong to!
