The below two articles relate to a decision that the State Geology Agency made against a particular miner. Interesting that the anti corruption department acted in favour of the new laws relating to 'subsoil' use. Hopefully Kentor will also be protected against unlawful use of power because it seems that the Andash deposit is proceeding through a similar review.

Prosecutor General's Office initiates criminal case against State Geology employees for illegal licensing of companies at Karakazyk mine
Bishkek (AKIpress) - Anti-Corruption Department of Prosecutor General's Office of Kyrgyzstan initiated a criminal case against employees of the State Geology and Mineral Resources Agency under abuse of office article of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan, reported Tazabek.

It was revealed that officers of State Geology Agency violated the law “On subsoil” that prohibits mining without state assessment of the deposit, and illegally issued licenses for several companies to develop "Karakazyk" site.

Criminal investigation is underway.

According to State Geology Agency, LLC “Kaydi” and LLC AZIA GOLD ENTERPRISE obtained license for development of “Karakazyk” gold, silver and copper mines.

State Geology Agency revokes LLC Asia Gold Enterprise licenses for development of Karakazyk mining site
Bishkek (AKIpress) - The State Geology and Mineral Resources Agency decided to revoke licenses of LLC Asia Gold Enterprise, reported Tazabek citing the Agency on May 25, 2012.

The decision was made by the commission on licensing for subsoil use on May 23. However State geology Agency cannot revoke licenses without participation of the company representatives in discussion. Company representatives were invited to participate in the nearest session of the commission that will take place within next few days.

The Commission will hear information on violations and technical norms for provision of licenses, and then it will hear opinion of the company. But the decision to revoke the license was already made, said in State Geology Agency.
