Kantor seems to have downgraded what he envisages for the ROAM-e significantly. From the SMH last September:
"IoT says the selfie drone can follow a person around to take photos of them surfing, snowboarding, skiing or riding a bike."
{now anticipated for use at family functions only; just as well if it isn't waterproof}
""We're developing an affordable selfie drone - maybe $150 or $190 - that will follow you," he says.
"It has a lot of smart software and sensors that we are able to source in volume at a good rate so that we can supply the product at an affordable price."
{compared to USD399, or AU$539 today}
"Mr Kantor says IoT can develop a product from concept and get it to market within three to four months."
{maybe they can, just not the ROAM-e}
"A compact automated flying camera system is being developed by technology company Internet of Things (IoT), which plans to have it on sale by Christmas."

Did everyone who pre-ordered realise that it is not intended for action sports, but mainly for family functions? Unlikely, IMO, as when IOT launched the ROAM-e on March 31st they described it as "the world's most advanced consumer device of its kind.", and compared it directly to the Lily, except that ROAM-e has the added benefit of FRT. That would surely have been the time to add that the ROAM-e is meant mostly for indoor use rather than following people around on bikes, in canoes, launching itself from a river etc. like the Lily does.
And from Duffell in October:
"Duffell has high expectations not only of his relationship with Shu, but also for the uptake of IoT products in Japan.
“Companies have seen the specifications and images of the selfie drone and see it as being a major disruptor in the Japanese market – not only because it’s a lot less expensive than other drones on the market, but also because it has a lot more features.
“Drones are usually tethered to a phone or other controller, but ours is different in that it has its own SIM card so it can work from Sat Nav on its own and be guided by object recognition.
“Those features in particular, and of course the price, are what they see as being quite a unique innovation in the Japanese market.”
The IoT Group selfie drone is expected to retail for under $AU200."
