As for directing the Chairman of the meeting on how to vote, what can one say Davo.
What you fail to consider Davo is, that the proxy votes are to sent to the Company to be counted, and not to the share Registry. But, as for you not being a shareholder, you can then be forgiven to get it all wrong.
Hence the Company will know what the votes in favour and against are before the meeting, and can choose which way the vote has to be done at the AGM.
1) By a show of hands, or
2) By the proxy votes.
Democracy at it's best, wouldn't you say??.
Now, think about it and give us an honest answer, for crying out aloud.
