I think a lot of shareholders still don't appreciate the reality of what has happened.
Nothing is going on. They haven't been up to anything. Operations have ceased. People saying 'why haven't they put out an announcement to tell us what's been developing' indicate that there's an assumption something is happening.
Operations staff have been fired. The pilot plant was abandoned years ago. The commercial plant has been deemed economically non viable even if it worked, which it never has because by their own admission they don't have a design for a plant which works, and all attempts at making it work have indefinitely stopped. There are no "remedial" works to be done as some have said; that would be fixing something which previously worked. AGY's plant doesn't need repairs, it's a useless plant based on a design which didn't work, and AGY never had a design which did work in a viable way.
As Rob said, the only thing they can possibly do is sell a few tonnes of product, or make a few phone calls and ask people if they'd like to invest at some stage in the future and politely be told 'don't call us, we'll call you'. And don't forget JZ is being paid a handsome wage for that job, which he's probably not putting more than a few minutes per week into, other than when he writes the next quarterly this month, which for a change can't be a cut and past so he may even have to do a few hours of work next month, though he probably literally won't spend as long on it as some people here spend posting for free on Hot Copper.
It really does seem a lot of holders don't grasp the current situation. "Why hasn't AGY gone up when all the other lithium gigs have?" - the answer is that AGY isn't a viable operation. If you're producing or have a viable/believable plan to become a producer, your price is pegged at least somewhat to the lithium price. If you have an abandoned attempt at an operation and nothing going on, what would be the reason to buy into your company as opposed to any viable or potentially viable one?
With a lot of holders seemingly not understanding the gravity of what has happened or the reality of the situation, it seems likely the next quarterly/activities statement which spells it out might give the share price a decent kick in the guts. I'm looking forward to seeing what word salad JZ comes up with to justify his position and what glitter, tinsel and perfume he adorns the turd of a company with.
I've asked this question before, I don't expect anyone to be able to give an answer but you can ask yourself if you're still a hold/believer: What future path to success do you see AGY has?
Do you think they're going to magically rehire over a hundred people and resume operations by surprise? Do you think They're going to wait for however long it takes for the lithium price to rally, then raise hundreds of millions of dollars and build the 10,000TPA plant? If so, what do you think the result of raising many multiples of the market cap of the company will be? Given regardless of economics, they simply could not make the pilot plant work and they simply could not make the commercial plant work, why would you expect them to be able to make the next one work? As yourself if the company was transparent and honest when they said the pilot plant had done its job (it objectively failed to achieve their stated goals), and if you want to trust them with your money to be honest about a larger version of the same project which has already failed twice.
If you can't give yourself good, solid answers to the questions in the above paragraph, ask yourself why you want to hold other than a desperate hope that somehow the price will go back up rather than continuing down.
If you want to hate me for saying all this, remember that I'm the guy who last year was expressing concerns, I sold out, I clearly expressed that I believed it was in everyone's interests to sell, the price did indeed crash when the company fell over and most holders hate me while loving the likes of gcar who has non stop ramped this dog and still calls it 'derisked'! If you start any business or project, clearly demonstrate that you can't do what you need to do and have to abandon the project, it's absolutely insane to say you've derisked it. Who lead you to where you are now? Who said that was a bad path? Why do you hate me for being correct and trying to help you? I don't ask that because I care if you hate me, I ask it because you need to answer that question for yourself.
