I think shorting in general is like gambling. They burrow x amount of shares to basically sell them and try drop the SP to then buy a lower x amount of shares and return what they burrowed. Imagine doing all that and then booom the company drops an announcement...then they'd have to return the original shares they burrowed at a higher cost.
It should be illegal.
